Sustainability

“An understanding of the natural world and what’s in it is a source of not only a great curiosity but great fulfillment.”

Sir David Attenborough

At Babushka we aim to be as ‘planet friendly’ as possible. We have made some small, simple choices to lessen the footprint we leave. These include:

Encouraging children to bring reusable water bottles rather than single use bottles.

Any packaging from food or products used are recycled, either in our kerbside collection, ‘Ellacycle’ (see below for details) or by being given new life created by your little person!

Babushka is real nappy friendly!

Where possible we source preloved plastic toys

New resources, where possible, will be wooden or ethically sourced

Wipes provided by Babushka (not for bottoms!) will be reusable or biodegradable

Handy Food Pouches

These are really handy pouches but sadly due to the high processing costs our local county council are unable to recycle them.

However Babushka TLC is an official collection point for the                    ‘Ellacycle’ scheme. Just bring your clean pouches, complete with lids, and pop them into the collection box and the recycling elves will do the rest!

The pouches go off to a central recycling point where they melted down to create new products.

All monies raised through this scheme and any other fund raising events/activities here at Babushka TLC, are donated to Somerset Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (SNICU) for the incredible work the dedicated team do, day in day out. Follow the link to see for yourselves.
